In a family of five children Stef is born the oldest one. His fascination for flowers has grown through out the years as he was confronted with flowers in the flower shop of his parents. During his studies Applied Economical Science his old love, flowers, blossomed again. Together with his wife, Katrien he started his own flower shop in a small city nearby Antwerp, Lier. After several years of intense training at the ‘Daniel Ost flower school’ and his membership of the contemporary floral design workgroup Alluvium Stef discovered his own way.

Several years of attending floral competitions
were the best school to learn the trade. The combinations
of these experiences with a very technical mind result
in an extraordinary cocktail of creativity.

His work for Floral Art Magazines brought him into contact with different points of view inside the World of Floral Art. This way Stef learned to look at the World with an open mind.

What characterises him most is his quest for pure aesthetics, where possible in a new constellation, a fresh design. You can’t pin him down on one style, as well romantic as abstract compositions are his trade mark. His strongest compositions are those that go back to the essence, the purification of the matter. The simplicity of these compositions often makes them hard to realize technically.

For big international floral expositions Stef realised extraordinary designs which are in complete harmony with the surrounding. The atmosphere of these big projects is magical. Looking at them you get dazzled, as if your feet were nailed to the floor or you just get goose flesh.

Unless the fact they don’t really look very complex they breathe a distinguished magic. Because of the magnitude of these projects, they become real challenges, which are realised together with his wife and an enthusiastic group of students from his school, Fluvium International Floral Academy Antwerp. Also here he only has one goal, the search for extreme beauty!
